HBB starts construction of the “Westertor” in Lübbecke
- The zoning plan is final and building permit has been granted
- Contracts with the city and tenants have been signed
- Existing buildings will be demolished before the new construction
Hamburg, 11/09/2020. HBB clears the last hurdles for implementation of the “Westertor” shopping area in Lübbecke and will start the construction project for the shopping area in downtown Lübbecke in the next few days. Before actual new building is started, the existing buildings will be demolished. Everything should be ready in 2022.
Start of construction as the last milestone on the road to implementation
After the project was presented in 2017, the necessary planning and approval phase followed, which will now be completed with the start of construction. The city of Lübbecke listed the prerequisites for implementing the project with the conclusion of the land purchase and urban development contract, the constitutional resolution for the development plan and the granting of the building permit. Before building construction begins, the old buildings must be torn down and the cables laid. The “Moß” company from Lingen is responsible for demolition, with construction will be carried out by the company “List Bau” from Nordhorn.
Shopping area strengthens the city centre
The “Westertor” shopping precinct replaces the municipal parking garage and the former “Deerberg” department store between the pedestrian zone and the bus station. HBB is using the excellent location and traffic connections in the city centre to develop a modern retail property in Lübbecke. This will strengthen the city centre and fill existing gaps in supply. The tenant mix consists of several anchor tenants. In addition to an enticing and freshness-oriented food market from the “EDEKA” company, “Rossmann” the chemists, are taking up their place on-site in a new and modern way. There are also smaller specialist markets and shops such as “K + K” shoes and “Apollo Optik”. The project comprises almost 7,000 square metres of rental space with nine tenants over two retail levels and direct access to 140 public and ground-level parking spaces. “We have already built comparable projects, but the “Westertor” project is a very demanding undertaking,” says Managing Director Kai Steindl. “This makes our well-positioned planning and construction team with the architects from “RKW” and the experienced companies “Moß” and “List Bau” all the more important. After the building permit was granted in July, we can start demolishing soon. For us, all the lights are on green.”
